About Healthy Western Recipes
We are an editorial kitchen focused on low-calorie Mediterranean and Western cooking — every recipe on this site serves 400-600 kcal with at least 15g of protein.
Our editorial standards
Every recipe we publish goes through a four-step process:
- Concept: We start from a proven idea rooted in Mediterranean and Western culinary traditions.
- Recipe development: We develop each recipe to fit our 400-600 kcal target, adjusting portions, swaps, and technique.
- Test cooking: We cook each recipe at least twice, taking notes on timing, flavor, and any issues.
- Photography & publish: We photograph the finished dish and publish with accurate nutrition.
Our team
- Recipe development: Healthy Recipes Editorial Team
- Photography: In-house kitchen
- Editorial review: Independent nutrition reviewer
Why these recipes?
The Mediterranean diet is one of the most studied eating patterns in nutrition science, consistently linked with longevity and metabolic health. The principles are simple: vegetables, legumes, whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats (especially olive oil), and herbs.
We translate these principles into dishes you can actually cook on a weeknight — without spending hours in the kitchen or hunting down obscure ingredients.
